I guess that was also a reflection of my personality.

I came across these Danboard characters after a break up. At that time, they were already very popular and people were shooting these fragile, cardboard people in happy, staged scenarios. I guess I was driven by a creative impulse then to do something different, which started off as a series of Danboard characters caught in often sad, contemplative scenarios. I’m a person who spends most of the time by myself, so I guess that was also a reflection of my personality.

I started uploading my photos to the Internet and it just started exploding one day. People were emailing me for interviews and, amazingly, sharing how they were able to relate to my photos. More importantly, people told me that they felt less alone after seeing my photos. Some even say that, despite being gloomy at first glance, my photos brightened up their day. This connection to people is something I treasure and motivates me to keep doing this project.
