My parents are the best of me.

My parents are the best of me. Especially my mum, for all the support she has given me. With her being a single mum and supporting me all the way until now, it shows her character and makes me want to be like her. I have two sisters, one older and one younger, and they’re quite grown up so I don’t really have to care about them.Regardless of my age, as compared to my older sister, I still have to show a good example to them. It’s probably the time when I was at my lowest that I vividly remember. I was in prison for a while and it strikes me how, although I have made some mistakes and I’ve hurt my mum so much, she still gave me the support and encouragement I needed to be able to move on. She kept saying that whatever you’ve done, you’ve done. Take it as a lesson for yourself and use it as an example/experience of what you shouldn’t do.With her support, it made me more religious as a Muslim. Thinking of her, it makes me reflect on all the decisions that I want to make. Nowadays, all the actions that I do I would think would look good in her eyes or God’s eyes. For me inspiration is everywhere and it’s just whether you want to open your eyes and heart to it. So it can be anything – like how we Muslims believe in hidayah [Arabic for guidance], everything can be a sign and it’s up to you if you want to see it. Take in the positivity and let go of the negativity.
