We are all Malaysians.
I met her during my college registration on the first day, never expecting that she will become my best friend until now.
When my mother and I went to the hostel because I have to put all of my stuff inside my room, there was one girl in the room which I thought would be my roommate. I approached her simply because I wanted to know her name. She introduced herself to me, and asked me the same thing too. We were getting to know each other at that time. She is from Kedah while I am from Malacca. Totally, we are from different places and for sure there are a lot of differences between us in terms of our background, culture, belief and others especially in terms of the way we talk (dialect). She has her own dialect which I think is very special and unique to my ears. From time to time, we got to know each other better and became close. What I love most about her is her personality. That is what makes her different from the other people that I know.
Sometimes, I see groups of people refusing to be friends with people who are not like themselves. I have been wondering why people nowadays are thinking that a person from a particular state cannot be good friends with a person from a different state too. Is it wrong?
So, what can I say here is that we have to understand and appreciate every cultural difference and similarity amongst us because it will develop our sense of humanity and make our society more harmonious. Because regardless of our differences, we are all the same.
