I was diagnosed with Acute leukemia back in 2014. At that time, I didn’t know how much I wasn’t living my life. I didn’t dare to speak my truth, I never dared to speak my mind. I only knew how to live my life in a way others are living theirs, following society’s expectations, going by the 9-5 job, living life like someone who is half dead.
My diagnosis of leukemia is one of the greatest gift from Life. Because it is my wake up call. Fast forward 4 years later, I am living my life in a way that is much more meaningful. I am working on my dreams, my passion, and I wake up everyday with a purpose. Don’t get me wrong, this path is not easy. The journey can be tough. Especially when you are starting from zero, especially when you have been out from the world for 4 years in an age when all of your peers have moved ahead and achieved so much more in their lives. Especially when you have tons of financial debts. And especially when you have to do everything on your own.
But I know I have a gift, and I know I have something in my belt which sets me apart from others. Ever since I was a child, I always knew I will be different, but I never knew how different. Now, I view everything in my life that has happened to me as a gift, because with each and every turn in life, it makes me tougher, and even more equipped to deal with what else Life wants to throw at me. With every fall, I come back up stronger, faster.
And no, I am not saying that everyone has to go through the downs in life to be special. You ARE already special. You ARE already that survivor who made it into your mother’s womb to become the person you are today. But don’t let the darkest of the nights to pull you down. There will be another day, even if you don’t believe it.
So if you are reading this and having the s***ttiest of times, hang in there my friend. Live through it, and let your story be another one which you can share with the world.
With the most love and gratitude,
