I’m glad I made it this far.

It got me thinking... Where do I start? Oh, here.

Greetings, everybody! My name is Jennifer Soh and I'm a Malaysian currently working in Singapore. It's been 3 years and boy, I went through a lot.

It was the higher secondary level that got me into a dilemma. Pressured by broken friendship, relationship, and peer pressure, I didn't do well in the science stream as a 17-year-old girl. Pre-university gave me another chance to excel. While some people hated the idea of wearing uniforms, I was stuck in school for another about 2 years in hopes to enter a local university and yes, I made it through. Without 4.00, I entered University of Malaya (UM) and later on, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with excelling at both places as the top student in the arts stream. From being in the 4th and 5th classes for 2 years in primary school to dropping even greater during the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), the same person you meet now is a graduate of Master of Communication in Screen Studies.

As I experienced a tough working environment in my home country, I, opened my eyes one fine morning, decided to come to Singapore - by faith. I was penniless. As I kept on emailing out my resume, I tried various non-media related jobs that really challenged me inside out. With all the washing, sweeping, mopping, paperwork, sales, marketing, teaching, and cooking, just to name a few, odd and long working hours and got scolded for some, I'd always think that it's difficult for foreigners like me to get good or better jobs or perhaps, it was just really me. Battling and not giving up in life, I learned to be humble and able to accept the tasks given in order to survive. I'm glad I made it this far.

I knew about my flair of writing when I was 14. Praised by my favorite English Teacher, Pn. Fazlinah that she thought that she was reading Mills & Boons while marking my essay! Today, I manage to declare that I'm a self-published author, with my hard-earned money, since 2014, for my first novel titled, "Of Roses and Gerberas" (2014) and you might have guessed it right, she bought my book and her support for me is priceless.

Almost towards the end of 2016, I found myself my dream job to be a Scriptwriter for a local production house. It's one of the most amazing experiences that I encountered in Singapore and I love living here, enjoying my work life balance! From the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank my family and friends that have helped me throughout these years.

This is my impromptu poem to you, all of my dear readers out there:

Left or right,
Take it easy;
Wherever's bright,
Do follow that lead.

Day by day,
What's in your head?
Don't wait for decay,
Be strong and go ahead.

Difficulty is self-determined,
You'll never know what God'll bring;
Keep on believing in Him,
Breathe and pray for your life's changing.

Thank you lots and do continue to smile!
