I would like to share a story about a working mother in my work place. We shall call her Mrs. Save. She is 52 year old and has been working in our company for 25 years.
Being a wife and a mother of 5 school-going daughters, life for her is not easy. She has to balance her work which is very demanding and taking care of the girls. She wakes up at 5am every morning to prepare breakfast for the husband and children. Then she drives all of her children to school. Yet she is never late to work at 7.00am. After work, she rushes out to pick up some of her children from school. Then she sends the children for tuition and other activities such as, squash training, and picks them back. By the time all her children are back home, it is already 7pm and she has to prepare dinner and other house work. Her husband is running a car workshop, which means he is also very busy. After dinner she has to continue her house work until about 11pm every day. On Sundays, she has to take care of her aging parents .The best part is that she never complains and always smiles whenever I meet her.
Who is she? She is a wife, mother, company employee, teacher, motivator, driver and a daughter. As the saying goes, “behind a happy family, there is a woman”. I believe there are many women from average families who have to sacrifice for their family. They have assumed their natural role as the pillar of their family. Their contribution should be recognised and admired.
