After graduating with a master’s degree in finance back in May 2015, I was confronted with one of the most difficult life decisions I had to make – continue playing tennis competitively or start climbing the corporate ladder. Despite being fully aware of the challenges a professional tennis career would come with, I decided to listen to my heart and pursue my sporting passion.
It was a very tough decision for me to decide whether or not to compete professionally. I was on the verge of commencing my career in the finance sector, but eventually turned down the attractive job offer in order to play tennis. I knew there was so much more in the sport that I could achieve and hadn’t yet accomplished, such as playing in a Grand Slam. While the journey can get difficult at times, I have to thank my parents for being my pillar of emotional and financial support. Tennis is an expensive sport, and I knew that it wasn’t a financially wise decision to pursue it. However, I have no regrets at all and am so glad I decided to follow my dreams.
I’ve never looked back ever since.
