I would not rather have anyone else as my parents.

Ever since i was young, I always looked on with envy as I saw my friends and cousins own the latest gaming devices or technological gadgets. My family could not afford to get them for me as we were not that well off and always struggling to make ends meet. I was young and did not understand the struggles of the real world as I was protected from them by my parents and grandmother. A part of me wondered why I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but that doubt slowly faded away as time went by.

As I grew older, I became more matured and understood that my parents was not having it easy as well. After a hard day at work, they still have to come back home and ensure that the chores are done or check if the bills have been paid on time. I only started to realize that as i constantly saw them get stressed out about our financial status and lose sleep over it. They watched as their friends go on holidays while they are tolling away for our family's sake. Then there was a day just like any other, my family sat down and had dinner together. All was quiet and i observed my parents while they were eating, then it finally dawned upon me that they have truly aged.

The best years of their lives were spent tolling away just to ensure that our family could lead a better life. Although we were not affluent, but they always ensured that there was a roof over my head, food on the table and shoes on my feet. I am truly grateful for the unconditional love that they have showered upon me and I would not rather have anyone else as my parents. I made a promise to myself that in time I will work hard and give them the better life which they wanted so desperately for us.

I thank my grandmother for the care and concern she have shown me for the past 23 years of my life. I thank my parents for all their hard work. I thank them for the love they have given me as they truly have brought out the best of me.
